This grant will support the general operations of the Chicago Children’s Choir, whose goals include serving 6,000 students and 100 schools by the 2020-21 academic year.
Chicago Children’s Choir is a multiracial, multicultural choral music organization for children living in Chicago aged 8 to 18. It is the largest children’s choir in the country with more than 3,200 children participating in the Choir’s activities each year. The Choir’s signature program is a 100 voice concert choir. Begun in 1956 during the height of the Civil Rights Movement, the Chicago Children’s Choir was purposefully designed to bring children of different backgrounds together. This grant will support several new artistic and education initiatives, choir expansion plans, and its general operations.
