The Chicago Learning Exchange (CLX) catalyzes racial equity, access, and quality in Chicago's out-of-school time (OST) ecosystem. CLX serves Chicago's youth by convening and connecting OST educators, supporting creativity and innovation in youth programming, and amplifying the need to invest in the positive development of children and youth. The CLX community collaborates to ensure that every young person in Chicago accesses high-quality, interest-based informal learning opportunities throughout the span of their formal education. This grant supports the Brother Mike Awards, which recognize exceptional youth mentors in Chicago.
Launched in 2018, Chicago Learning Exchange (CLX) supports a network of over 200 multi-sector organizations dedicated to “connected learning,” learning that is engaging, relevant, and prepares young people for a highly connected, technology-enabled 21st century. CLX works in partnership with community-based organizations, libraries, museums, government and social service agencies, universities, schools, and technology companies to advance equity in education so that all young people can access high-quality learning opportunities. CLX’s Remake Learning Days CHI (RLD CHI) 2021 campaign connects youth and their families to virtual, in-person, and hybrid 21st century learning and work opportunities through an engaging and fun festival. This award enables CLX to convene its partners and host planning sessions in preparation for RLD CHI 2021.
Chicago Learning Exchange (CLX) is a new nonprofit organization whose mission is to inspire and support innovation that equips digital-age learners and leaders to close Chicago's opportunity gap. CLX brings together the work of the Hive Chicago Learning Network and the Hive Chicago Fund for Connected Learning into a single entity, and builds upon that work to support an ecosystem for connected learning in Chicago. This award for general operating support will enable CLX to launch successfully, to promote the growth and adoption of connected learning, and to ensure that youth from all backgrounds have access to rich learning opportunities.
