The Firehouse Community Arts Center (Firehouse) is a youth development and arts organization working with young people aged 12 to 25 in the North and South Lawndale neighborhoods of Chicago. Firehouse provides violence prevention, job training, mentorship, and leadership development services. With this X-Grant, Firehouse develops and formalizes its curriculum for arts-focused youth engagement by working with a consulting service to codify its approach and strengthen the use of best practices in social-emotional learning practices.
The Firehouse Community Arts Center (Firehouse), is a youth development and arts organization working with young people aged 12 to 25 in the North Lawndale and South Lawndale (“Little Village”) neighborhoods of Chicago. Firehouse provides services in violence prevention, job training, mentorship, and leadership development. This award strengthens the Firehouse’s capacity for workforce development training by sending staff to attend the Global Homeboys Industries conference.
House Development Corporation, also known as the Firehouse Community Arts Center (Firehouse), is a youth development and arts organization working with young people aged 12 to 25 in North Lawndale and South Lawndale (“Little Village”) neighborhoods of Chicago. Its work in violence prevention, job training, mentorship, and leadership development is infused with elements of the arts and creative expression. The organization is housed in a converted, decommissioned Chicago fire station in North Lawndale. This award strengthens the Firehouse’s sustainability by creating a cash reserve and makes key investments in organizational infrastructure and planning.
