Liberation Ventures

Liberation Ventures, a project of the national research and action institute PolicyLink, is a new effort to support America’s Black-led racial repair movement. Launched in 2020, Liberation Ventures was established to support and grow an ecosystem of organizations working on truth, reconciliation, and reparations to build public will for a comprehensive, federal, financial, and non-financial reparations program. This grant provides flexible support for Liberation Ventures to create the conditions for Americans to grapple with and publicly acknowledge the history and actions that have contributed to harm in African American communities and to catalyze acts of restitution, financial compensation, and reparations. Its goal is to build a country that repairs the trauma of slavery and its legacy by closing the racial wealth gap and disrupting White supremacist narratives.

PolicyLink is a public policy research and advocacy organization devoted to the reduction of economic disparities and the promotion of regional equity in the pursuit of economic growth in the country’s metropolitan areas. As a leader of a national network that supports greater economic inclusion, the organization is at the forefront of efforts to provide pathways to opportunity through policy reforms for the 100 million people in the United States living at or near poverty levels. This investment in the organization’s campaign to build a Reserves and Growth Capital Fund helps to provide the organization with the stability and strength required to take the regional equity field to the next level in building an inclusive and prosperous economy. Resources from the fund support two core financial needs: a reserve fund to secure a sound financial platform and organizational infrastructure, and a growth fund to enable the organization to rapidly respond to new opportunities and challenges with innovative policy solutions.
