Following a 2017 report on the cost of segregation in Chicago, the Metropolitan Planning Council has released 24 recommendations to restore financial equity to residents and neighborhoods most affected by segregation and racism. The MacArthur-supported study calls for expanded affordable housing options, criminal justice reform, and enacting an earned income tax credit for working households, among other recommendations. The Council developed the recommendations with the help of 110 advisers and experts who examined the issue from an equity perspective.
